Heyman laughed at him and said that he lives to be John Cena, which is his biggest problem. He lives to be the kid who chants “Lets Go Cena.” Heyman talked about Cena busting his ass night in and night out every year, but the crowd still chants “Cena Sucks.” He said doesn’t that make Cena want to just one time turn to those people and tell them to shut up. Heyman said they could do it together if Cena wants. Heyman then did a little rap and said it was just like Cena used to do. Heyman begged Cena to just let it out one time. WHAT I LIKED
Chris Jericho vs Bray Wyatt: Very good cage match to start RAW. Jericho’s crossbody off the top of the cage was impressive considering he’s up there in age. I also loved the, “screw it, why not” expression on his face when he did it. Much better than the Cena/Bray cage match from Extreme Rules. Bray going over was smart but would have had more effect if he had any momentum going into it. A solid match to start the show.
NXT on RAW: That was something nice to see on RAW. It would have been nice to see these guys get entrances too. But the match was entertaining in the short time it was on. The crowd was into Neville and Zayn’s performances. This would be nice to see every once in a while. Give NXT guys a chance to work on RAW and expose their act a little more.
Paul Heyman/John Cena Promo: This one gets thrown up here mostly for the work of Paul Heyman. Once again he showed just how great of a talker he can be. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Cena’s speech. He could have completely cut that out and just told Heyman that he was done talking and ready to fight. That would have been just as satisfactory. Or don’t even go as long as he did. But Heyman’s work was great enough to put this in the plus column.
Sheamus/Cesaro: The United States Title hasn’t seemed very important in recent months. The fact that Cesaro and Sheamus are having a feud over it, no matter how minor it is, is good for the Title. Plus these two have had a couple of good matches together so their match at Night of Champions should be good.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
Jerry Springer/Bellas: Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse. Oh my god was that awful. There’s nothing they can do to recover from that segment. The only funny thing from it was Jerry Springer giving the thumbs up while leaving on the stretcher. I don’t care about Total Divas, and even if you did this would have to make you hate even if you liked the show.
Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton: I really didn’t have a problem with the ending. But the match itself just felt like it dragged on for too long. It was really slow. Maybe it was the multiple commercial breaks but I just didn’t like it. I actually preferred their SummerSlam match to this one. This needed some kind of stipulation added to it to make it feel more big time. I just didn’t like it.
I thought overall the positives of this show outweighed the negatives. The first two hours of the show were good but the final hour killed it from being a very good RAW. One good match to start the night and a couple of other good things help give this RAW a 6.
Until Next Time,
