-Holy hell has this Dolph Ziggler/Rusev/Lana/Summer Rae angle gone down hill. This is absolutely the worst possible way this could have gone. It’s cheesy and bad soap opera writing. Why should Lana be upset that Summer Rae invaded Dolph’s privacy and went into his locker room without an invitation? You can’t do a Divas Revolution then write stupid shit like this.
The WWE is the promotion that gets all of the attention in the world of pro wrestling, at least in North America. They’ve earned that right. But there are other promotions out there that deserve some of your attention too (sorry TNA/GFW, we aren’t talking about you). Ring of Honor has been the main Independent promotion in North America for quite some time. Even if you haven’t watched ROH, you have heard of its existence. Within the last year, Lucha Underground has come along and created waves in the wrestling business. They have wrapped up Season 1 and, hopefully, will soon be filming a Season 2.
HTCWrestling has two residential writers that cover each promotion. Cam covers Ring of Honor, while Justin C covers Lucha Underground. They are each here to talk about their respective promotions and tell you why each could become a viable #2 wrestling company in North America.
SummerSlam weekend is in the books for the WWE. It was a newsworthy weekend with NXT Takeover, SummerSlam, and RAW all having some newsworthy moments happen during it. I’m here to take a look back on the weekend and look at some of the best and worst of it.
Best Match: Sasha Banks vs Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship
-This one isn’t even close. Just when you think the women of NXT can’t top themselves after Sasha vs Becky Lynch, we get Sasha vs Bayley. To me, this one was the better of the two and may very well be my leading candidate for Match of the Year in the WWE. Who would have ever thought that a women’s match would be a MOTYC ever in the WWE, let alone TWO of them. But this one gets the nod because Bayley’s underdog story was so easy to buy into and get behind. And the video package before the match was great.
The Kliq was one of the most influential and controversial groups in the history of pro-wrestling. Judging by the content of this DVD set though, it appears their entire story has been told.
STAMFORD, Conn., August 19, 2015 – For the first time since 2007, WWE’s SummerSlam returns to the NYC-Metro area with a week-long lineup of events including interactive fan experiences and community outreach programs covering all five NYC boroughs. SummerSlam takes place this Sunday, August 23, live on WWE Network at 7 p.m. ET from a sold-out Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The events begin today and include:
-Man, that opening Authority segment only lasted 10 minutes but it felt like it was 30. Was that really necessary? It was dragged out and the people in the truck screwed up the video cues a couple of times. It seemed like a “Hey don’t forget about the Authority!” type of segment.
This is just something I threw together VERY quickly as I am a lifelong Green Arrow fan and am a big fan of the “Arrow” TV show. After seeing Stephen Amell on RAW tonight, I can’t wait for this match to happen at SummerSlam!
-Cesaro in a suit looks like the perfect Bond villain. I hope somebody sees that in Hollywood.
-I don’t get making the Tag Titles match at SummerSlam a Fatal 4 Way match. New Day just beat Los Matadores and Lucha Dragons are barely promoted or shown on RAW. And this was after Michael Cole called the tag match between New Day and Los Matadores an important one. Sometimes you can make sense out of WWE things, but I can’t with this one.
