JC’s Top Rope Report: Wrestlemania 32 Predictions, The Final Take

JC Top Rope Logo 2

It’s the final take for me. I normally try to do three different sets of Wrestlemania predictions every year, and it is time for my final stab at it. With the Holiday season upon us, we are very quickly getting to the Road to Wrestlemania. The last set of predictions I did were back in September, and A LOT has changed with the WWE since then. First, lets go back to my predictions from April:

Divas Championship: Paige (c) vs Emma vs Charlotte vs Sasha Banks

Intercontinental Championship: Bray Wyatt (c) vs Sami Zayn

Daniel Bryan vs Rusev

John Cena vs Kevin Owens

Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton

The Rock w/Ronda Rousey vs Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon

The Undertaker vs Sting

WWE Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose

And now my predictions from the end of September:

Intercontinental Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs Sami Zayn

The Wyatt Family vs New Day

Divas Championship: Charlotte (c) vs Sasha Banks

Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton

The Rock vs Triple H

The Undertaker vs John Cena

WWE Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose

Booking decisions over the summer changed my thoughts for the September card. Now? Injuries have caused me to change the predictions for my final predictions. We’ve lost two big players in Randy Orton and Seth Rollins for this card. So here’s one final stab at my Wrestlemania 32 predictions. This might be the least confident I feel in all of my picks heading into the biggest show of the year, especially this late into going into Mania.

Divas Championship: Charlotte (c) vs Sasha Banks

-This is probably the only prediction I feel 100% confident in making. Charlotte is going through challengers in the Divas Division. Nikki Bella, Paige, and now Becky Lynch is next in line. Since I don’t think Bayley is coming in before Wrestlemania, Sasha Banks is the next Diva in line to get the Title shot. She is the Diva the WWE fans want to see win the Title. I know the WWE has been adding a bit of a comedy act to Sasha lately, but I would hope that changes come Mania season. If the WWE doesn’t pull the trigger on Sasha winning at Wrestlemania 32, they may never will.

The Wyatt Family vs New Day

-I’m still sticking with this one, but I’m not as confident as Charlotte/Sasha Banks. I just don’t want to see the Wyatt Family get built back up again only to lose another big match. If they get built up to face Lesnar, do you really think that Lesnar is losing a match to the Wyatt Family? I see New Day slowly becoming faces but not changing a thing about their act. Hell, let the crowd decide who they want to cheer in this match.

United States Championship: Alberto del Rio (c) vs Kalisto

-With the injury to Sin Cara, I think Kalisto gets his own match at Wrestlemania. With the show being in Dallas, I’m sure they could try to play up the Mexican heritage of each man. And I’m pretty sure Alberto del Rio will have his own singles match at Wrestlemania. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something guaranteed in his contract negotiations.

Brock Lesnar vs Dean Ambrose

-Had I written this before RAW, Brock Lesnar’s opponent would have been Bray Wyatt. But there was something about Heyman’s promo on RAW that changed my mind. Heyman said there is no one in the back that is man enough to challenge Brock Lesnar. To me, that makes me think it has to be face. This would have been the PERFECT spot for Cesaro to step in and challenge Lesnar. The story would have wrote itself. But Ambrose is essentially the next man up on the babyface list. No one wants to see Cena/Lesnar again. Reigns/Lesnar, to me, is the only other possibility. This Wrestlemania should be about people stepping up, and this is Ambrose’s spot to do so. Have Ambrose eliminate Brock in the Rumble, then have Brock destroy him after.

The Rock vs Triple H

-The match was teased last year. And if you are going to advertise this far in advance that The Rock is going to be at Wrestlemania, it better be for a match. Why advertise him this far ahead but only have him cut a promo? The history is there between both men. Is it a match I particularly want to see? Not really. But The Rock can wrestle a basic match with Triple H compared to one he would have to wrestle against Brock Lesnar. I doubt that Ronda Rousey is involved in this match either.

The Undertaker vs John Cena

-Another one I still think is going to happen. Think about it, who is left to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania? His feud with Brock Lesnar is over. Seth Rollins is injured. He has already faced Bray Wyatt in two matches. I highly doubt he would go after the WWE Championship, especially if it was against Roman Reigns. That leaves John Cena. John Cena vs The Undertaker is still, at least to me, the last big time match that can happen at Wrestlemania. It takes two of your biggest stars and puts them in one match, but for me this match is worth it. It hasn’t happened since Cena became a big star. Sure there is no Streak, but it is a match I still want to see.

WWE Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs Kevin Owens

-The WWE is building up Kevin Owens for a big match at Wrestlemania. It may be an absolute gut feeling that I have, but the way he has been booked the last couple weeks has been different. I think it is either this or a fight against Brock Lesnar. But as I said above, I think a face has to challenge Lesnar after Heyman’s comments on RAW. Owens is one of the few wrestlers who constantly gets a good reaction when his music hits. Owens winning the Rumble doesn’t seem that far-fetched at this point. Taker doesn’t need it. Cena/Reigns isn’t a match you can sell to your audience. Brock is a possibility, but he’s an attraction on his own. I don’t need him in my WWE Title match. And we’ve already seen Reigns/Bray over the summer. That leaves Owens as the next man up, and I think he can handle this spot.

Until Next Time,
