JC’s Top Rope Report: Random RAW Thoughts For 1.11.16
-Stephanie McMahon has become increasingly annoying over the last few months. She pretty much buries anyone in her sight and its getting ridiculous. Her slapping Tom Phillips a couple of weeks ago was the breaking point for me. And this week she pretty much calls the fans stupid. I know she’s a heel, but she never gets revenge brought on her. It’s always about Steph looking strong.
-I’m not sure if it is New Day that has jumped the shark or it is Chris Jericho. Jericho’s last few returns haven’t been that great. But you would think with the roll New Day has been on it would work. But these two weeks of Jericho/New Day segments have not been fun to watch. And I don’t see any hope for improvement.
-Kind of surprised that the WWE pulled the trigger on Kalisto with a US Title win on RAW. I thought it would be something they might have saved for a singles match at the Royal Rumble. But the WWE followed the typical “have a match on Smackdown, do a rematch on RAW” story. Except this time Kalisto won again. He’s caught fire in recent weeks and I think the WWE might have something in him if they keep it up. I’m not saying he could be the next Rey Mysterio, but he could come close with time.
-The WWE finally has a good angle going in the Divas Division with Charlotte and Becky Lynch. They have gotten the crowd to buy into Becky as being wronged and as the underdog babyface. It helps that they finally went full heel mode with Charlotte. I hope these two have time to have a good natch at the Royal Rumble.
-So at this point, the WWE is pretty much telling you that no one besides Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns is going to win the Rumble. Both of them went through pretty much every heel on the roster tonight. My hopes of a Kevin Owens win were somewhat dashed tonight. The only other option is HHH. And quite frankly, I’d rather have Reigns win then HHH at this point. The WWE has a giant mess going into the Rumble at this point and I don’t know what they can do to fix it.
