Daniel Bryan announced via Twitter that he will be retiring:
Rumors began swirling over the weekend that Daniel Bryan would be appearing on RAW in his hometown of Seattle. No one really knew what to expect if he did show up, but we now know what the reasoning behind his appearance will be.
In a way this isn’t too shocking. Daniel Bryan has been cleared by two separate doctors to return, but he has not been cleared by the WWE’s medical director Dr. Joseph Maroon. There were reports that Bryan asked for his release but it was never granted, and that he also turned down numerous non-wrestling jobs offered by the WWE.
It’s a bitter sweet end to a career that sky rocketed in 2014 and reached its peak at Wrestlemania 30 when Daniel Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan’s career was disrupted by injuries soon after and he never fully recovered. Daniel Bryan will go down as one of the most gifted wrestlers to ever step foot inside a WWE ring. He was a masterful in ring technician and his character growth in the WWE was remarkable. The fans took to him and forced a change in the main event of Wrestlemania 30.
We will have more coverage of Daniel Bryan’s retirement on HTCWrestling throughout the week.
