In a surprising and surreal moment, Shane McMahon made his return to the WWE on RAW. Shane interrupted the Vincent J. McMahon Legacy of Excellence Award Ceremony in which Vince was going to give the award to Stephanie. Shane came back to say he wanted control of RAW. Vince said if he wanted it, he would have to have one more match. And that match would be at Wrestlemania against The Undertaker and it would be inside Hell In A Cell.
Also on RAW, Dean Ambrose challenged Brock Lesnar to a No Holds Barred Street Fight at Wrestlemania, which Brock accepted. Earlier in the day, Brock attacked Ambrose in the parking lot. Dean returned in the ambulance, only to eat another F5. That’s when Ambrose challenged Brock.
That makes the Top 3 Matches of Wrestlemania 32 the following:
WWE Championship: Triple H (C) vs Roman Reigns
Hell In A Cell: The Undertaker vs Shane McMahon
No Holds Barred Street Fight: Brock Lesnar vs Dean Ambrose
JC’s Take: Shane McMahon’s return was great. The reaction and interaction initially with Vince was fun. But it started getting muddy when you could tell where this was going: Another McMahon Power Struggle Story. Not only that, but Shane is fighting Undertaker at Wrestlemania? Since when does Taker do what Vince wants? They have six weeks to put together a good story here, or maybe even have Shane get someone to fight Taker for him during the match. Either way, there is no clear face or heel here.
Lesnar/Ambrose should be fun and a star making moment for Ambrose. He doesn’t even have to win the match to become a star from it. Ambrose does need to start looking stronger during the build, but I expect that to happen over time.
As far as HHH/Reigns goes, if Triple H beating down Reigns at the end of RAW couldn’t get the crowd behind Roman, I don’t know what will.
