Report: Sting Forced To Retire Due To Neck Injury
According to a report from TMZ Sports, Sting is being forced to retire due to a neck injury. If you remember, Sting injured his neck taking a turnbuckle powerbomb in his match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions.
The report states that Sting is dealing with cervical spinal stenosis. This condition affects the nerves in the neck and is the same issue that caused Edge to retire. According to the report, Sting is expected to make the announcement at the Hall of Fame ceremony Wrestlemania weekend.
Sting has had a storied career in the ring. He is one of the best babyfaces to ever step foot in a wrestling ring. Fans got behind him in WCW, not only in his early days with the blech blonde hair but also when he became the crow and sat in the rafters. Some of the pops Sting received during the Monday Night Wars era were incredible. I’m glad Sting was able to wrestle inside a WWE ring before he retired. And while I may not have agreed with the result, at least Sting was able to compete at Wrestlemania.
