WWE Smackdown Live 9.7.16: Five Snarky Thoughts w/ Cameron Dougharty

New Smackdown Logo

Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt the new Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum

  1. Randy Orton opened Smackdown Live looking to fight Bray Wyatt, after being medically cleared and then beat up again by Brock Lesnar in Chicago this past week. Bray in typical, dare I say ‘Vintage Bray Wyatt’ as he appeared on our TV’s telling Orton to find him. Is it just me or was Orton dressed almost too similar to Bray on a casual Tuesday? Do I smell a power tag team happening on Raw and Smackdown?

American Alpha is back to make Smackdown Live great

       2. One of the biggest fears I had about the WWE splitting the roster down the middle ‘ISH’ was they would be exposed in either lack of depth for feuds and or lack of depth in the title races. Smackdown proves that point almost every week. I am almost on board with the Usos grand new look, Heath Slater and Rhyno are a breathe of fresh air but this division is going to be dominated by American Alpha until maybe that wild pick of mine above comes to live. I can see it now, American Alpha against Wyatt & Orton, that would be one hell of a feud and contrast of styles; here comes the money.

Dolph Ziggler and The Miz together, forever

       3. The Miz is still the Intercontinental Champion despite attempts from Apollo Crews and Dolph Ziggler. Miz continues to prove he’s a top 25 WWE heel of all time, yes he’s number 25 but still. Ziggler is putting his career on the line at No Mercy which automatically means he’s going to win and be the champion Cleveland always wanted or some dumb cliche. Who knows, maybe these two can’t stand each other enough so they become a tag team and EVERYONE becomes a tag team and the new revolution in wrestling is led by Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho.

Becky Lynch = Sasha Banks Alexa Bliss = dare I say Charlotte?

      4. Smackdown Live Women’s division has six women headlined by Becky Lynch but with all do respect none of them are quite on the same level as Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Bayley. After Bayley debuted, I hoped and prayed they would send her to Smackdown at the request of Charlotte easily benefitting the Smackdown roster. This is where Alexa Bliss can change that perspective, in my eyes, and put the quote un quote mountain on her back and lead the way along with Becky. Bliss has improved in the ring and on the microphone since her early days in NXT. Let’s set back and see how much Triple H really believes in Bliss.

John Cena is coming for you AJ, again

      5. It’s always nice to start your day knowing AJ Styles is the WWE Champion, what a fresh breathe of air it is. Dean Ambrose and John Cena continue to be right on the heels of Styles and it’s the best thing going on Smackdown Live. Ambrose has been busting his body since the day The Shield debuted in the WWE. His character has gone a little stale and John Cena is well, John Cena. Both of these guys are great to further AJ’s early legacy in the WWE until the time comes for Styles to beat up whoever is next. Anyone feel like Samoa Joe is coming for that title sometime after the new year, say Royal Rumble?
