Quick Hits: WWE No Mercy 2016

-I’m joining this already in progress since the Bills game didn’t end until after 7. Curt Hawkins came out and said he is having a match on Smackdown next week. Not on the PPV. Clearly, the WWE just transferred the Eva Marie gimmick to Curt Hawkins.

-Alexa Bliss was told Becky Lynch can’t compete. I guess she will get her Title match in Scotland on November 9. Because reasons.

-American Alpha and the Hype Bros defeated The Ascension and Vaudevillains.

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs Dean Ambrose vs John Cena

-All three men come out then apparently chill in the ring for 5 minutes while they play the same video package they just played 10 minutes ago.

-Everyone goes for a finisher early, but none are successful and there is a triple clothesline.

-Styles launches over the top rope to the outside and hits the Phenomenal Forearm on Cena.

-In the ring Cena catches Styles and goes for a TKO but screws it up.

-Styles moonsaults and grabs Ambrose, then grabs a charging Cena and hits a DDT. Nice.

-Cena hits a Code Red. He could be a future Cruiserweight Champion.

-Cena tries taking Styles to the top for a Super AA, but Styles escapes and hits a powerbomb.

-Ambrose gets back into the match and applies a Sleeper on Cena. Cena gets out of it by backing Ambrose into Styles three times.

-Cena goes for the Five Knuckle Shuffle but Ambrose catches him off the top with an elbow.

-Styles hits a Frankensteiner but Ambrose rolls through for a two.

-Amborse and Styles double clothesline. Cena hits a Five Knuckle Shuffle on both (so a 10 Knuckle Shuffle?). Cena AA’s Styles but he rolls out of the ring. He then AA’s Ambrose but only gets 2.

-Styles and Cena end up on the apron ans Styles hits a suplex. Styles then hits a springboard 450 splash on Ambrose for two.

-Styles hits the Styles Clash on Ambrose. Cena comes in and applies the STF on Styles. Ambrose stops Styles from tapping.

-Styles crossbodies but Cena rolls though. Cena goes for the AA but Styles counters to the Calf Crusher. Ambrose breaks it up.

-Ambrose applies a Calf Crusher to Styles. Cena comes in and applies the STF. Styles taps. The ref waves off the finish and lets the match continue.

-Ambrose hits the Dirty Deeds on Cena. Styles recovers and pulls the ref out of the ring. Ambrose goes for a suicide dive and BARELY catches Styles.

-Cena hits the top rope AA on Ambrose. Styles comes in and delivers a chair shot to Cena and pins him for the win.

WINNER and STILL WWE Champion: AJ Styles- Well there was a screwy finish in there that I’m sure will have repercussions at some point. Yeah AJ tapped out, but he was in 2 different submission moves at the same time so he doesn’t look weak. The match was great with the screwy finish taking away from it a little bit. I’m assuming a rematch is coming at Survivor Series.

Nikki Bella vs Carmella

-I see Nikki cut up a pair of John Cena’s jorts for herself.

-Nikki dominates early until Carmella tosses Nikki into the LED board on the outside.

-Carmella then stretches Nikki on the ringpost.

-Carmella charges at Nikki in the corner but Nikki catches her with an awkward spear.

-Nikki can’t maintain momentum as Carmella hits a superkick and applies the Cone of Silence. Nikki escapes.

-Carmella applies it again but Nikki gets to the ropes.

-Nikki is able to apply the Rack Attack for the win.

WINNER: Nikki Bella- Nothing to see here. Nikki finally gets her revenge. Move on.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: Heath Slater and Rhyno (c) vs The Usos

-Pretty basic action early on. The faces dominate early until the Usos get control over Heath Slater.

-Slater lands on his feet after a backdrop and makes the hot tag to Rhyno.

-Rhyno sets up for the gore but Jimmy distracts him and Jey hits a dropkick.

-The Usos land hard shots on Rhyno but he tells them to keep it coming.

-Slater gets the hot tag but the Usos quickly stop him.

-Jimmy goes to the top but Slater runs up and hits a powerslam for two.

-Rhyno takes out Jey after he applies a half crab to Slater. He gets the tag then hits Gore on Jey for the win.

WINNERS and STLL Smackdown Tag Team Champions: Heath Slater and Rhyno- Paint by the numbers tag match. The Usos dominated the entire match but the faces capitalized on the big moments. I’m surprised the Usos didn’t get the win there. Apparently the WWE doesn’t like heel tag teams.

Jack Swagger vs Baron Corbin

-I can’t believe they are making a Real American Jack Swagger wrestle during the debate.

-Corbin is dominating early. Sorry but I can’t find a way to get into this match.

-Swagger starts a comeback but Corbin hits the Deep Six. Only gets two.

-Swagger applies the Ankle Lock but Corbin gets to the ring skirt. The ref fixes it, but Corbin pokes Swagger in the eye then hits the End of Days for the win.

WINNER: Baron Corbin- Next.

Title vs Career For The Intercontinental Title: Miz (c) w/Maryse vs Dolph Ziggler

-Maryse is very nice to look at it. And she adds to the act of the Miz. Double win.

-Ziggler goes for some quick finishes.

-Miz mocks Daniel Bryan’s “YES” chant and applies a surfboard.

-Miz dominates, but he gets caught by a Ziggler boot to the face.

-Miz goes for a springboard powerbomb but Ziggler counters into a pinfall for two.

-Miz hits his corner clothesline but Ziggler crotches him when Miz goes to the top.

-This match has been all Miz as he goes for a Figure Four. Dolph struggles forever even though he is super close to the ropes. He eventually gets there.

-Maryse distracts the ref and Miz takes off the top turnbuckle.

-Miz tosses Dolph into the exposed turnbuckle. Miz finally hits the springboard powerbomb but only gets two.

-Miz lands the Daniel Bryan kicks to the chest. Ziggler ducks the last one and hits a ZigZag but only gets two.

-Miz blocks a Superkick, Dolph blocks a Skull Crushing Finale. Dolph gets a pin for two then applies a Sleeper. Miz gets to the ropes.

-Maryse sprays Ziggler with the hairspray. Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale but Ziggler puts his foot on the ropes.

-Miz hits a Superkick. The Spirit Squad comes out. Dolph fends them off, but Miz hits another Skull Crushing Finale. Only gets two.

-The ref tosses both Spirit Squad members and Maryse. Dolph hits a Superkick for the win.

WINNER and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Dolph Ziggler- I’m honestly surprised this wasn’t the main event. It took the crowd a little bit to get into it but they were fully invested by the end of it. Now that Ziggler has had his back to the wall, he needs to come out firing in the next few weeks and wrestling with no fear. Good match that picked up in the last 5-7 minutes.

Alexa Bliss vs Naomi

-Alexa cut a promo saying Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were protecting Becky. Naomi came out and we have a match.

-I find this Becky injury thing weird. It’s a “non wrestling related injury.” It’s just, weird.

-There is a “We Want Becky” chant as this match isn’t really going anywhere. This is why Dolph/Miz should have main evented.

-Alexa applies the cross armbreaker, but Naomi counters to a pin for the win.

Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton

-I missed the first part of this match because I hate to run an errand. I’m not going back to watch it. From what I heard, it was very boring so you didn’t miss much.

-I come back and Orton hits his trademark DDT. The lights go out and come back on and Luke Harper is in the ring. Bray hits Sister Abigail for the win.

WINNER: Bray Wyatt- Glad that Luke Harper is on Smackdown. From what I heard, the match wasn’t much to write home about. Again, I don’t know why Ziggler/Miz didn’t main event. Bray gets the win to continue this feud.

OVERALL: The match had two very good matches with the WWE and IC Title. Other than that, the show was pretty forgettable. I was looking forward to Becky/Alexa. Becky’s “non-wrestling related injury” might be something to keep an eye on in the coming days. I honestly expect the 3 main feuds to continue to Survivor Series. That’s disappointing, because I was really hoping for an interpromotional match there. Ok show. Thumbs definitely in the middle.

Until Next Time,
