JC’s Top Rope Report: Wrestlemania 33 Predictions Take 3

JC Top Rope Logo 2

It’s time for my post Survivor Series Wrestlemania 33 Predictions. I think this is a proper time to do one. For me at least, it looks like things became a bit clearer after this show. At least when it comes to the top two matches that I think Wrestlemania will offer.

I will say that I think it’ll be really disappointing if Samoa Joe or Nakamura aren’t on the main roster come Mania time. And it is looking more and more likely that this is going to be the case. I get that the WWE wants to make more money with NXT as a touring brand. But Nakamura and Joe could give RAW or Smackdown such a huge boost.

Lets take a look at my last round of Wrestlemania Predictions:

Andre the Giant Battle Royal

Smackdown Women’s Title: Becky Lynch (c) vs Charlotte

United States Championship: Rusev (c) vs Sami Zayn

IC Title: Bray Wyatt (c) vs Dean Ambrose

Tag Title Unification Match: New Day vs Enzo and Cass vs The Club vs American Alpha

Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho

Randy Orton vs Samoa Joe

RAW Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) vs Bayley

Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg

Seth Rollins vs Triple H

Finn Balor vs The Undertaker

WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs John Cena

Time for my third (and likely final) guess at a Wrestlemania card!

Andre the Giant Battle Royal

-BRAUN Strowman is the favorite to win this.

RAW Tag Team Titles: New Day (c) vs Enzo and Cass

-I think New Day is turning heel soon. It may not be until the Royal Rumble (got to sell that holiday merchandise!) But they acted as heels this past Monday on RAW. And the turn would freshen up their act immensely. Enzo and Cass are the perfect faces to challenge New Day and help out the turn.

Smackdown Tag Team Titles: The Revival (c) vs American Alpha

-The Revival needs to be on the main roster. And it should be on Smackdown. There isn’t much left for them to do in NXT. And who doesn’t want to see another Revival/American Alpha match? I’m sure they would only get ten minutes at Mania, but they could put on one hell of a ten minute match. I almost did unification matches for the tag titles and women’s matches, but I don’t think the WWE gives up on the brand split this early.

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs Nikki Bella

-Becky has been doing interviews where she hinted at the idea of turning heel in the future. Well, if she fights Nikki Bella at Mania it is going to happen in the build up. I love Becky as a face, and think Nikki is a better heel, but Total Divas probably won’t allow that to happen. This would be a “sleeper” match of the night for me. Nikki is underrated as a competitor.

RAW Women’s Championship: Charlotte (c) vs Sasha Banks vs Bayley

-I don’t want this to be a Triple Threat match. But I can’t keep any of these three women off the card. So this is what we get. Charlotte is the heel, Sasha is a tweener and Bayley is the clear cut babyface. Charlotte’s first PPV loss should be a one on one match. But you can’t keep Sasha off the card here. And she isn’t moving to Smackdown. So we get this.

Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt

-If you have seen my HTC tweets, you know that I like the Orton/Wyatt pairing. But we all know that pairings like that come to an end. But I want to see it play out a little bit. It looks like they might be getting a shot at the Tag Titles. That’s fine with me. Keep it going as long as possible, then just when people don’t expect it, Orton turns on Bray. But stretch it out. Make it like the Owens/Jericho pairing, but with a different dynamic obviously. It gets both of them on the card in a big built up match.

WWE Universal Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs Finn Balor

-It sounds like all is going well with the rehab of Finn Balor, and many think that he will be able to return at the Royal Rumble. And the good thing about the Rumble is that you don’t have to do a lot of work in order to win it. Balor could come in late to the match and win, then challenge Owens for the Title. Balor is over enough that this would be a big moment. Balor never lost the Title. I almost took the Title off Owens, but the only other people I would put it on are in my next match.

The Shield vs The Club

-The teases have been there over the last couple weeks. First with Reigns and Rollins. Then Ambrose was added to the mix at Survivor Series. Now of course, this match would require a rebuilding of Gallows and Anderson as a serious threat. Because they are anything but at the moment. I almost had Reigns in the Universal Title match, but I went to this. Lets face it, this is probably the only way the WWE could get people to cheer Roman Reigns. This also drops the Triple H/Rollins match. But the WWE has pretty much dropped that on TV as well. Now it could just be Triple H waiting to come back after the NFL season to say he is a “ratings draw,” but part of me also thinks that was just dropped. I thought for sure Triple H would come back on RAW and he didn’t. This also puts AJ Styles in a big match on the show.

The Rock vs Triple H

-Now of course, that doesn’t mean Triple H won’t be on the card. Do you really think Triple H is going to NOT wrestle at Wrestlemania so long as he is able to? The WWE has been doing a lot of hype for The Rock recently. He has a new shirt, they are hyping his new movie. I know the WWE wants to stay in his good graces, but it seems like they are hyping him a little bit more than usual. If The Rock wants to wrestle a safe match, Triple H is probably his best option. If Ronda Rousey wants to, she can probably be in The Rock’s corner as well.

Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg

-Hey, I guessed it before. And it already happened. And from the looks of things it is going to happen again. I would prefer each of these guys fight someone else. But I guess they want to do this again. I’m sure it will go longer than Survivor Series did. It has to on the Wrestlemania stage. I could see a stipulation being added to the match as well. There first two matches were definitely unique. The third one needs to outshine them both, and in a good way.

WWE Championship: The Undertaker (c) vs John Cena

-When The Undertaker came out on Smackdown and basically confirmed he was going to be wrestling a couple more matches before Mania, this match came back on my list. Myself, like the rest of you, would LOVE to see AJ Styles carry the Title into Mania. But when you have this money match staring you in the face, you take advantage of it. I think this will be The Undertaker’s last Wrestlemania. He will fight AJ Styles for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. Taker wins, then defends against Cena at Mania. Cena’s 16th title win and Taker goes out on his grandest stage. I will say that I hope Cena does not win the Rumble in this scenario.

So what do you think? Feel free to share your card!

Until Next Time,
