WWE RAW 12.12.16: Five Thoughts w/Justin C

1. OK: Now Get The Titles Off New Day

-So New Day broke Demolition’s tag title record. Fine. I don’t care. It is now time to get the Tag Titles off of New Day. They’ve become really stale over the last couple months. It was quite evident that the WWE was trying to buy time to stretch out this reign so they can break Demolition’s record. (And its only really because Demolition is part of a lawsuit against the WWE.) I still want Gallows and Anderson to win the Titles. But at this point I wouldn’t be opposed to Cesaro and Sheamus winning either. They’ve grown on me over the last couple weeks.

2. BRAUN Strowman Is A Future World Champion

-If you read my articles on a regular basis, you know that I’m a big believer in BRAUN Strowman. I think he has grown leaps and bounds during this singles run. I don’t get the Sami Zayn storyline associated with it, but BRAUN continues to improve. He is being protected pretty well as a giant. He’s yet to take a single pinfall. And hell, even his short promos are coming off well. When the time comes, if he can put together a 15 minute match, I don’t see why he can’t be the next giant big man the WWE is lacking. If BRAUN’s momentum keeps up, I think a Title run isn’t out of the question in 2017.

3. On The Other Hand, I’m Not Sure Big Cass Could Survive On His Own

-There was a moment when Enzo Amore was hurt last spring and Big Cass was given a bit of a mini push. It looked like the WWE was, and probably still is, high on him. But if his promo on RAW tonight was any indication, I don’t think Big Cass could survive on his own. He sounded very robotic calling out Rusev. And you could tell the crowd wasn’t fully behind him when they found out Enzo wasn’t there. And what I’ve seen from Big Cass in the ring doesn’t inspire me either. Vince may see the next Roman Reigns in Big Cass, and I think it would work out just as well as Roman’s current push.

4. Will The WWE Finally Follow Up With Sami Zayn?

-So Mick Foley decided to be a giant cock tease to WWE fans and pretend like Sami Zayn was traded to Smackdown, which everyone wanted. And then he used it as a trick to motivate Zayn and give him 10 minutes with BRAUN Strowman at Roadblock. So it is an easy way to get Zayn over by not having a pinfall and making it seem like Sami has a morale victory over BRAUN. But will the WWE actually follow up with this story? Because I have seen it happen before with Sami Zayn. Zayn beat Owens then went on to do nothing for weeks. So I don’t have high hopes for the WWE to follow up on this latest Sami Zayn storyline. The WWE’s track record doesn’t warrant it.

5. Not Having Charlotte or Sasha Banks On The Show Seemed Stupid

-Sasha Banks and Charlotte had the main event segment of the last two RAWs. This week they had a video package in the middle of the show. I don’t get that one. I mean there isn’t much left for either of these two to say about each other. But I thought Charlotte had a good segment to end the show last week and generated some good heat. Now that segment seems like a distant memory. I don’t think the women will main event this Sunday. But it just seems odd to not have either women out their before Roadblock to give one final hard sell for their match. Maybe it is a sign that the WWE finally ran out of ideas for them.
