WWE RAW 12.19.16: Five Thoughts w/Justin C

1. Nia Jax Doesn’t Work For Me As The Monster Of The Women’s Division

-Looks like the WWE decided to put Nia Jax in a feud with Sasha Banks. I’m all for ending the Sasha/Charlotte feud, but I would have preferred Sasha move on to a feud with Emma. I get that the WWE wants to get Nia some TV time, but she doesn’t give off the big monster intimidating vibe. A lot of it has to do with her voice not sounding all that scary. And while her move set looks intimidating, I don’t think she has come along in the ring like the WWE hoped she would. Maybe working with Sasha will help Nia. But I just don’t see anything that makes Nia a player in the women’s division on RAW moving forward.

2. Primo and Epico Are Good Wrestlers Stuck With Bad Gimmicks

-You have to feel bad for these two. I’ve seen enough of Primo and Epico over the years to know that they are good wrestlers. The problem is they are constantly stuck with stupid gimmicks. They were Los Matadores, and now they are the Shining Stars who constantly hype Puerto Rico. But when you watch them in the ring you can tell that they are solid workers who could be players in the tag team division if pushed right. Unfortunately I think that ship has sailed in the WWE. Once you depush a team like the WWE has with Primo and Epico, the crowd is taught not to care about them anymore.

3. Neville Brings A Breath Of Fresh Air To The Cruiserweight Division

-It has only been two days but Neville’s return to the Cruiserweight Division has already made it more interesting. They have established Neville as the clear top heel in the division and made him a serious threat immediately. Brian Kendrick was never going to cut it as the top heel of the division. Neville has a good look. And I thought his promo was pretty good. I was nervous when he brought up being cheered last night, but he used it well, calling out the fans for not cheering him before. Neville looks to have a new found attitude and desire. Hopefully this is what helps out the CW division and gets it off the death bed.

4. The Sensitivity Segments Gave Me Headaches

-When Enzo Amore received his letter saying he had to go to sensitivity training, I knew it was going to be bad. When it wasn’t Dr. Shelby leading the group, I knew it was going to be a trainwreck. The majority of the time there is nothing good when the WWE does organized humor segments. And this one was part of it. I’m not the biggest Enzo Amore fan in the room, but even I felt bad for him in those segments. Although I will say that the idea of a possible Jinder Mahal and Rusev tag team is pretty intriguing.

-Sorry, but I am taking a minute to brag here. As you know, I have been on the BRAUN Strowman bandwagon for awhile now. And seeing him come out at the end of the show to destroy Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins was great. BRAUN has been booked perfectly since the Draft. And now is the time to make him a serious threat to win the Rumble. I don’t think he should win it, but he definitely should have a strong showing in it. My guess is that it leads to BRAUN vs Roman at some point. And maybe BRAUN can win the US Title and do a better job of defending it than Roman. Who knows. But what the WWE has done with BRAUN is great booking.
