-We start with Jinder Mahal doing a photoshoot with the WWE Title. Shane comes in and takes the Title back, and says tonight Jinder is facing Sami Zayn.
Shane McMahon/Chris Jericho Opening Segment
-Shane comes out to introduce Chris Jericho. This is just another reminder of how much better Smackdown is compared to RAW at the moment.
-Shane tells Jericho that he is facing Kevin Owens tonight. AJ Styles comes out to another great pop.
-Styles says he doesn’t forget the past and he is currently standing in his ring. Jericho gets ready to put Styles on the list but Kevin Owens comes out.
-The crowd chants “You tapped out” at Owens and he says that doesn’t matter, just like what Styles and Jericho are talking about.
-Owens tells Styles to get out of his ring and then goes to address Shane, but Styles comes up the ramp and him and KO fight as officials come out to break it up.
Sami Zayn vs Jinder Mahal
-Zayn hinders Jinder early with a hurricarrana and a dropkick sending Jinder to the outside.
-During commercial the Singh brothers distracted Sami which allowed Jinder to take control.
-Sami headbutts Jinder off the top rope but Jinder comes right back with a knee to the face for two.
-Sami starts his comeback and begins to hinder Jinder yet again.
-Just once I would like a face to ignore a heel on the outside trying to distract him.
-Sami goes for the Helluva Kick but one of the Singh Brothers pulls Jinder out of the ring. Sami goes for a dive but the other grabs his leg, allowing Jinder to hit his finisher for the win.
WINNER: Jinder Mahal
-Natalya/Carmella/Tamina try to convince Becky to join their cause again.
Aiden English vs Tye Dillinger
-Dillinger makes quick work of English, who has a mini breakdown in the ring after the match.
WINNER: Tye Dillinger
-Chris Jericho puts Aiden English and Renee Young on the list.
-Charlotte gets attacked by the Female Nexus before her match.
Naomi vs Natalya and Carmella
-Charlotte didn’t come out after being attacked earlier.
-Naomi’s barrage of standing kicks look awful. Carmella’s selling of them made it worse.
-Natalya slams Naomi into the ring steps to give the heels control.
-After a double crossbody, Charlotte makes her way to the ring and she gets the tag.
-Charlotte goes to work with chops. And the crowd is really behind her which is a good sign. Natalya stops the rally by tripping Charlotte and sending her down on the apron.
-Naomi hits the Rear View but Natalya distracts the ref. Ellsworth reverses the pin and gives the heels the win.
-The Welcoming Committee as they are apparently called, not the Female Nexus, attack and Becky Lynch comes out. Becky pretends she is with them and shakes their hands, until she shoves Ellsworth into all three women. Numbers eventually win over and they get the better of Becky.
WINNERS: Natalya and Carmella
Sin Cara vs Dolph Ziggler
-Sin Cara surprisingly gets some offense in early on.
-Sin Cara’s new outfit looks weird. Plus it makes him look a little bigger than he probably is.
-Dolph gets his knees up on a moonsault attempt then hits a superkick for the win.
WINNER: Dolph Ziggler
-A Fashion Police segment made to be like Law and Order aired. It was great.
United States Championship: Chris Jericho (c) vs Kevin Owens
-Jericho goes after the injured finger early on. He slams it on the steps but KO rolls back into the ring before Jericho can kick the steps into it again.
-Jericho misses a corner splash and goes over the ropes. KO then hits a cannonball into the barricade.
-KO is able to escape the Walls of Jericho the first time. Jericho counters the popup powerbomb and applies the Walls a second time. KO gets to the ropes again.
-Owens DDT’s Jericho on the outside then hits a superkick in the ring for two. KO then hits the popup powerbomb for the win.
-After the match KO hits another powerbomb. Medics and refs walk him to the back. KO attacks again. He puts a chair around Jericho’s neck and slams it into the post.
WINNER and NEW United States Champion: Kevin Owens
OVERALL: The show had no Randy Orton or Shinsuke Nakamura, and AJ Styles only appeared for a few minutes in the opening segment, but I thought it was still a solid show. The women’s segment was great. The crowd is getting behind Charlotte as a face and popped for Becky after the fake turn. Kevin Owens established himself as the top heel of the show at the end which is good. I still think Orton turns eventually but they may be farther down the line. I wish there was more follow up with Rusev from last week. The Fashion Police segment was great.
