Quick Hits: New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax Night 15 Review
A Block Match: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Yuji Nagata
-There are some gentlemanly exchanges early on until ZSJ catches Nagata on a break with a kick to the elbow and goes to work on the arm of Nagata.
-They exchange forearms. Nagata ducks one and applies a crossface then transitions into a Rings of Saturn.
-Nagata puts the boots to ZSJ but misses one and ZSJ goes for an armbar to the bad left arm of Nagata but Nagata gets to the ropes.
-ZSJ goes for a triangle choke but Nagata counters into his armbar. ZSJ gets to the ropes.
-They decided to kick the fuck out of each other’s bad arms.
-Nagata hits a Saito suplex for two. He throws ZSJ into the corner and Nagata hits a kick tot he head and follows it up with another Saito suplex for the win.
WINNER: Yuji Nagata
A Block Match: Yoshi-Hashi vs Kota Ibushi
-The action goes outside early on. Ibushi catches Hashi with a dropkick in the ring but Hashi comes back with an awkward neckbreaker.
-Ibushi sends Hashi back to the outside and hits the springboard moonsault.
-Hashi takes down Ibushi and hits what might be the worst looking swanton I’ve ever seen for two.
-Hashi hits a sitout powerbomb for two then they decide to exchange slaps.
-Ibushi catches Hashi with a sitout powerbomb for two. He then hits a running knee for the win.
WINNER: Kota Ibushi
A Block Match: Bad Luck Fale vs Hirooki Goto
-Fale chasing the ring announcer out of the ring during the announcement of his name has become one of my favorite things to watch.
-Fale tosses Goto outside then slams his left knee into the ringpost.
-Goto ducks out of the way of a corner splash but can’t lift Fale for a Samoan Drop.
-Fale escapes a couple of GTR attempts. Fale the LARRIIAAATTOOOS the fuck out of Goto.
-Goto escapes the Bad Luck Fall, but then walks right into the Grenade to give Fale the win.
WINNER: Bad Luck Fale
A Block Match: Tetsuya Naito vs Togi Makabe
-They brawl to the outside into the crowd. Naito tosses Makabe into the wall then a sea of chairs.
-Naito works over Makabe back in the ring. He tosses Makabe into the corner but Makabe bounces right off with a powerslam.
-Naito goes for his springboard DDT but Makabe counters and LARRIIAAATTOOOOSSSSS Naito.
-They battle for position on top. Makabe slams Naito’s head into the top of the ringpost. He then just German suplexes Naito off like it is nothing. But he misses the King Kong Knee off the top.
-Naito goes for Destino but Makabe counters with a LARRRIIAATTTTOOO.
-Naito finally comes back with DEESSTTIIINNNOOOO for the win.
WINNER: Tetsuya Naito
A Block Match: Tomohiro Ishii vs Hiroshi Tanahashi
-Tanahashi tries to headbutt Ishii early on but it ends up hurting Tanahashi more because Ishii’s head is strong as fuck.
-Ishii slows the match down early on which is to his liking. He lands a barrage of chops in the corner.
-Tanahashi grabs the leg of Ishii while he is on top and dragon screw leg whips Ishii off the corner.
-Tanahashi lands forearm after forearm and Ishii pretty much tells him you fucking suck or something because they don’t effect him. Ishii then takes Tanahashi down with one forearm.
-Ishii throws away a Tanahashi dropkick then no sells a German suplex and hits a Dragon suplex of his own. Tanahashi then catches Ishii with a slingblade neckbreaker.
-Ishii blocks a dragon screw leg whip attempt but Tanahashi does it anyways with Ishii in the ropes.
-Ishii takes out the right leg of Tanahashi and starts working it over.
-Ishii LARRIAAATTOOOSSSS Tanahashi and applies a Sharpshooter. Hopefully Red Shoes doesn’t call for the bell!
-Tanahashi whips Ishii’s leg in the ropes and goes to the top. But Ishii meets him there and hits a top rope superplex.
-Slingblade. One Count. LARRIIAAATTTOOOO. One Count. Slingblade again. One Count.
-Tanahashi hits a crossbody off the top. He then hits High Fly Flow for the win.
WINNER: Hiroshi Tanahashi
At this point, the only two who can win A Block are Naito and Tanahashi. And surprise surprise, they face each other on the final night of A Block competition!
