WWE TLC is this Sunday. And boy is it crazy. Of course, the bigger story is the lead up to the show with the possibility of viral meningitis spreading in the WWE locker room. This has caused a complete change to the TLC Card. Kurt Angle is replacing Roman Reigns in the main event, which is NUTS. Angle’s first match back is a TLC match and he is going in on 48 hours notice. I would have never called that.
Meanwhile, AJ Styles replaces Bray Wyatt to take on Finn Balor which at this point is a special attraction match. That’s an upgrade over what we were going to get. And I just hope it is also the end of the Sister Abigail shit.
Sasha Banks vs Alicia Fox
JC: Apparently this was suppose to be Nia Jax instead of Alicia Fox. But Nia is on a “personal leave of absence” from the company. She may have a complaint about her character having no direction. But if she is asking for more money then she’s delusional. Also, she shouldn’t have been the one to face Asuka like she wanted. That match should be saved at a later date.
Back to this match, it would be dumb to not have Sasha win. Sasha needs some wins to build her back up and Alicia Fox is lucky at this point that she still has a job. She’s entertaining in spurts but not on a regular basis.
WINNER: Alicia Fox
Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander vs THE Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher
JC: Kendrick and Gallagher work well together as a tag team. And I like the new serious Gallagher. It’ll never happen but I would like to see them get a serious push in the tag team division. But the WWE doesn’t like mixing cruiserweights with the rest of the roster for some reason. They should get the win here if the WWE has intents of pushing them as the new threats in the CW division.
WINNERS: THE Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher
Asuka vs Emma
JC: On the Hell In A Cell Preview Podcast I said I would never “bet the farm” on any wrestling match again after I said that about Undertaker beating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 30. I would totally change course on that with this match. I’m sure you’d have to bet something like $1200 to win $100, but Asuka is 1000000% winning this match. The WWE has done a great job of building Asuka up in promos on RAW and you have to hope that the WWE doesn’t screw her up. But I truly believe she is one of Triple H’s projects so I hope he has a hand in booking her. Emma might get a couple moves in but this should mostly be an Asuka squash.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Kalisto (c) vs Enzo Amore
JC: Enzo hasn’t been bad since joining the CW division. I never thought I would say that. And now this show has THREE Cruiserweight matches and segments. Kalisto won the Title a couple of weeks ago after the big Neville walkout. It was more unnecessary shock TV. Even with Neville walking out they could have held off on Kalisto’s win until this show. Although on RAW this past Monday Kalisto said he would be the new Cruiserweight Champion after winning this Sunday. Enzo now has more guys on his side in the division. I think he is getting the Title back here mostly because I don’t think Vince has any care how he books these guys.
WINNER: Enzo Amore
Finn Balor vs AJ Styles
JC: I would never wish viral meningitis on anyone but at least it saved us from this Sister Abigail crap. Of course, Finn vs AJ should have happened on a bigger stage as I said above. But this will be a damn good wrestling match. I’m giving Finn the win here because I think he’s being set up for Brock Lesnar. AJ can take a loss and still job to Jinder Mahal (which he is going to do) but Finn needs wins to make him seem like a threat to Brock.
WINNER: Finn Balor
RAW Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss (c) vs Mickie James
JC: I’ve actually really enjoyed this feud. Yeah the whole “Mickie is old” stuff may be a bit of a stretch. But she’s brought fire and passion to every promo she has done so far. We’ve been waiting for Mickie to have her breakout moment since coming back and this is it. This might even be my favorite Alexa Bliss program so far since she became Champion. Alexa continues to be one of the best characters in the WWE. The last time these two had a match it was a bit of a let down but I don’t expect that this time. I really wish the WWE didn’t play hot potato with the Title because otherwise I’d feel more confident about a Mickie James win. I’m still picking her here. And I’d even let her hold it for a little bit, possibly even until the end of the year. I’m sure they want to build up to Alexa/Asuka, but I’d put the Title on Mickie if it was up to me.
WINNER: Mickie James
TLC Match: Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs BRAUN Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Sheamus and Cesaro
JC: Okay I had a pretty long post typed out about the Shield here and now I had to retract it. Long story short: The Shield reunion still felt rushed and assuming they are still together after this, they need a more credible threat then five guys thrown together at once.
So now that Kurt Angle is in the match what happens? First, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD KURT DON’T DO A MOONSAULT OFF A LADDER. Kurt being in this match is scary given his neck history. I expect his bumps to be limited. Maybe he goes through a table. This also allows the feud to be stretched out to Survivor Series if needed. I’m still giving the faces the win here. Kurt isn’t losing his first match back.
WINNERS: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Kurt Angle
