WWE NXT 4.11.18: RECAP & THOUGHTS W/ HEATHER

After a pretty fantastic Takeover The NXT landscape is changing once again.  Two (I guess technically three) new champions were crowned and a handful of NXT staples made their way to the main roster before this show.  Who will be stepping up to new heights?  What new faces might we see?

Who Will Challenge Our New Champs?

Shayna Baszler ended the reign of Ember Moon at Takeover and in no time Ember took her talents to the Raw Main Roster.  In an interview discussing her ascension, Ember mentioned not getting her rematch and said she was just sorry to leave NXT with Shayna, so she’s out.  I think that probably leaves Kairi Sane, but I think she’s going to start a program with Lacey Evans even if she did beat Lacey tonight.  That one is a mystery to me.

The tag titles… I have to admit when I was wrong and while I do not like that The Dusty Rhodes Classic was just a means to the end of an angle, I do like Roderick Strong joining The Undisputed Era.  Right as the show started I had a feeling it was going to happen and I like it a lot.  He is now technically a tag team champ with Bobby Fish out and Adam Cole winning the North American title.  Roddy turning on Pete Dunne makes me believe Mustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) may be making further appearances on NXT, making them opponents for Strong & O’Reilly.

As for Adam Cole, no opponent seems set up just yet unless they go with Pete Dunne, but he’s already a champion.  I think they’ll probably go with Ricochet, or another ladder match opponent.

Aleister Black defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas at Takeover and to my genuine surprise, Almas did not show up on Raw or Smackdown.  He also didn’t show up on NXT so I still wonder what he’s doing.  He could stick around for his rematch, but I think Lars Sullivan is probably who they’re going to set up as an opponent for Black.  Definitely shouldn’t be the person who beats him, but there needs to be speed bumps in the road.

 A New War in NXT?

NXT brought in a couple new singles wrestlers in Ricochet and EC3 this weekend but on NXT this week we saw their newest tag team signing!  After Authors of Pain made their way to the main roster, leaving Paul Ellering behind, War Machine – now known as War Raiders – made their presence felt in a Sabbatelli/Moss vs Heavy Machinery taking out both teams.

I really like War Machine, but there is such a large group of BIG MEN tag teams across the rosters right now I have no idea who won’t get lost in the shuffle.  I don’t think it’ll be War Machine, they’re incredible talents who’ve had time on the Indies to find who they are, and they already have a name for themselves.  Which is War Raiders.  Right.  I’ll get it.

Results:

Kairi Sane defeated Lacey Evans

Heavy Machinery & Riddick/Moss ends in a NO CONTEST (War Raiders attack)

In a final note, though I never really saw them while I reviewed NXT – The Iconic Duo has made their way to Smackdown which is really great for them.  Oh and No Way Jose went to Raw to be the new Adam Rose.  Yikes.
