WWE NXT Highlights 12.12.18 w/ The Chairman

This episode of NXT featured a open challenge from Ricochet for his North American Championship. Who answered the call? Also find out who else joins Bianca Belair in the fatal four way match to decide the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship and more.

A Familiar Face Answers the Challenge

Last week it was announced Ricochet would be having an open challenge for his NXT North American Challenge. It was rather a surprise who answered the call. It was none other than Prince Pretty himself, Tyler Breeze. Breeze of course was one of the more popular superstars in the early days of NXT despite never winning any championship gold. This was a great chance for Breeze to finally do that. Ricochet and Breeze gave us a decent match and the reversecarana spot was fantastic. It was nice seeing Breeze dressed in his NXT attire again with the fluffy boots. Breeze unfortunately wasn’t able to defeat the champion Ricochet. I’m curious to see who what challenges are in store for Ricochet in 2019. I’m also wondering if this is going to be a one off appearance for Tyler Breeze or will there be more matches to come. He tweeted a check mark next to Ricochet and hinted about a potential match with Velveteen Dream. Wouldn’t that be a treat? I personally would like to see more wrestlers from the main roster compete in NXT, especially if there’s nothing for them on the main roster.

EC3 Goes Fishing

It’s no secret EC3 wants to get his hands on Bobby Fish, he finally got his chance on this episode of NXT. NX3 kicked off the show against Bobby Fish after Adam Cole said that it was going to be Undisputed Era’s year in 2019 and they will all be draped in championship gold. Definitely would like to see Adam Cole hold the NXT Championship in 2019, but that’s another story for another time. This is about Fish and EC3 and EC3 managed to steal the match with a inside cradle EC3 of course paid for his victory with the other members of Undisputed Era at ringside and they all went in for the attack. EC3 though got saved by Heavy Machinery who have their eyes on the NXT Tag Team Championship held by the Undisputed Era. Kyle O’Reilly wasn’t as fortunate as his Undisputed Era brothers and received a vicious One Percenter from EC3 and Otis Dozovic put the exclamation point on with a worm elbow drop. It can only be assumed Heavy Machinery will be the next tag team to challenge the Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championship in the future.

The Women’s Fatal Four Way Gains Two More

Biance Belair was the first superstar to qualify and it was learned over the weekend Lacey Evans qualifed as well at a live event. Mia Yim took on Reina Gonzalez on this episode with the winner getting the third spot. Yim has been getting alot of television time on NXT leading me to think she’s in line for a potential push. Mia of course took care of Gonzalez claiming the third spot. I’m curious who will get the call for the final spot in this fatal four way match.

ON TAP

Next week we finally get Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano inside a steel cage. Both men cut brief video promos hyping up the big match next week.

Dakota Kai and Io Shirai will step inside the ring to take on Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. We’ll finally see what Shayna Baszler’s running buddies can do in a match next week.
