The HTCWrestling Staff Answers: What Is Your Favorite Royal Rumble?

Cam: Royal Rumble 2001 is my favorite Rumble match of all time. There are plenty of fun spots throughout. Kane looks like a beast during it. It may be the last time he came off as an actual serious threat, at least with his mask on. There were so many big stars in the match: Kane, Undertaker, Stone Cold, The Rock. I also feel this Rumble really set Stone Cold apart as the guy from all of them.

The Chairman: As far as best Royal Rumble match ever goes, it’s hard to pick just one. However I feel the 1992 Royal Rumble stands out to me personally. It was one of my first exposures to the Royal Rumble and made me fall in love with the match itself. The WWE Championship at the time was vacant and there was decent amount of star power in this Royal Rumble match unlike the 2016 one. Ric Flair recently jumped over from WCW a few months earlier and made an immediate impact in this classic Rumble match. The Rumble match also planted the seeds for the eventual Wrestlemania match between Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice. Truly a classic and must see for those that haven’t seen it before. Plus the commentary from Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan was top notch.

Justin C: I have to echo the sentiments of the Chairman and go with the 92 Rumble. It is not only my favorite Rumble match, but it is one of my favorite wrestling matches of all time. Ric Flair is made at the end of it. He has interactions with people from his past like Kerry Von Erich, Greg Valentine and Roddy Piper as well as new starts like Shawn Michaels. Bobby Heenan gives the best performance of his career on commentary. I always liked the ending too. The crowd completely sides with Sid over Hogan. They stress throughout the Rumble that it is every man for himself, but apparently not when it comes to Hogan. And the crowd was behind Sid.
