This obviously puts a huge dent in the plans for the NXT Takeover show that is taking place Wrestlemania weekend. That show was expected to be the blowoff of the Ciampa/Gargano feud that has been going on for over a year. Remember that the start of this feud was delayed because Ciampa had to undergo knee surgery. And now it appears that the end of their feud will be delayed, possibly for good.
The good news for Triple H is that there is no lack of talent in NXT to elevate into the main event spot. I would expect Gargano to remain in the main event. You could put Adam Cole opposite him. Or you could strap the rocket to Matt Riddle. I’ve seen some people suggest bringing back down Sami Zayn which I wouldn’t be opposed to.
Ciampa was the perfect heel in NXT and the timing of this injury is awful. He could be out anywhere from 6-14 months depending on how he recovers. Hopefully this doesn’t cause him to lose a top spot on the main roster when he comes back.
