WWE Smackdown Live Hits and Misses 6.25.19 w/ The Chairman

HIT: Dolph Ziggler Isn’t Going to Extreme Rules

After Raw last night it appeared we were getting Kofi Kingston vs Samoa Joe at Extreme Rules. Many fans were happy to see Joe get a top feud and Kofi moving on from Ziggler. Well that reality came to a screeching halt at the start of Smackdown when Ziggler came out. If Dolph was able to beat Kofi in a two out of three falls match, then he would get added to the WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules. Fortunately Kofi was able to prevail keeping Ziggler out of the title match. Hopefully Ziggler crawls back under the rock he came from and we don’t have to hear anymore “it should’ve been me” promos.

MISS: Two Out of Three Falls Too Many Times

Remember when two out of three fall matches were saved for special rivalries? Well we’re in the wild card era where there’s no reasoning behind any booking these days. Rumor has it Vince didn’t want commercials in the middle of matches anymore (which was a lie by the way) so in order to remedy that we get two out of three fall matches that are very short mind you. I really hope this isn’t the new norm because this is a terrible decision. Of course the WWE Creative team is absolutely terrible so expect this trend to continue.

HIT: Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura Feud Teased

After sitting back and wondering where the missing superstars of Smackdown Live are, all the sudden we see Finn Balor. He was asked who his next challenger is going to be and Shinsuke Nakamura appeared. No words were exchanged, but we can only speculate this is our next feud for the Intercontinental Championship. I’m all for this! I’ve wanted to see Balor vs Nakamura since they ended up on the same roster and one can only assume this happens at Extreme Rules.

MISS: Champions Eating Pins

It was not a good night for champions on Smackdown Live. Kofi even ate a pin, but it was in a two out of three falls match so he didn’t lose the match. However Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Bayley and Smackdown Live Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan both were pinned tonight. Bryan in fact has been pinned two nights in a row. Bryan was a former WWE Champion recently and was doing a fantastic job as champion. Now he’s made to look like a chump when in reality he could save the tag team division. Bayley eats a pin to Nikki Cross in a stupid stipulation where if Nikki defeated Bayley, then Alexa Bliss gets a Smackdown Live Women’s Championship match at Extreme Rules. We seriously are having another rematch? We’re seriously having a Raw superstar challenge for a Smackdown Live title again? This Wild Card rule stuff sucks and the protection of champions is even worse.

HIT: Aleister Black Finally Gets an Opponent?

Black cut one of his random promos again, but this time there was some knocking. Perhaps he may finally get his challenge answered. Of course we’ll have to wait and see who it is, but at least were getting somewhere. It’s sad to see where Black is compared to his brief tag team partner Ricochet these days. Ricochet has been gaining popularity by the week and just won the United States Championship. Black hasn’t stepped foot in the ring. Hopefully at Extreme Rules he finally does.

MISS: Shane is Angry and Nobody Cares

Shane wasn’t happy about the Undertaker showing up on Raw and getting involved in his business so he warned everyone that he’s in a bad mood. Well we get The Miz vs Elias once again and of course it’s two out of three falls. Well Elias stole the first one and then Miz got the second one after Shane got involved. Then Elias and Shane soften up Miz before Elias wins the final fall. This story is the worst one going in WWE and many are sick of it. Sadly they keep overexposing Shane and forgetting about everybody else.

Definitely a skip on this episode. Basically if watched Raw, you’re seeing the same stuff again for the second night in a row just about. At least Extreme Rules is a few weeks away and then maybe, just maybe they’ll actually try to build Summerslam up. With that follow the Twitter @ChairmanSV and thanks for reading.
