NJPW G1 Climax B Block Night 4 Results
Toru Yano vs Juice Robinson
This match didn’t really differ from any other Yano match this tournament. Yano goes for a couple of low blows early omg with some roll ups. Juice avoids the exposed corner a couple times but hits it the third time. Juice finally wins with a left hand of god and Pulp Friction for the win. Least favorite Yano match so far, and I tend to enjoy his comedy matches.
WINNER: Juice Robinson
Hirooki Goto vs Taichi
We may have a contender for new worst match of the tournament. They did such a good job of building up a Goto the first night of the g1. And now he looks like a geek. This match had typical Taichi shenanigans with Miho Abe and the attempted use of his mic stick. He also attacked Carl Fredericks before the match. Taichi picked up the win and the Goto redemption story is all but dead.
Jon Moxley vs Shingo Takagi
Moxley is a complete different person here from the WWE, and hell even his two appearances on AEW too. He went from having a wild brawl with Ishii to a very good psychology based wrestling match with Shingo here. Moxley worked over the left knee of Shingo the entire match. He put a Figure Four on the post. He smashed Shingo’s bad knee into a table. After they both kicked out of finishers, Moxley won with two Regal knees and then the Death Rider. Very good match here.
WINNER: Jon Moxley
Jay White vs Jeff Cobb
I liked this showing from Cobb here. Maybe it was because he was finally up against a prick heel in Jay White. But Cobb’s offense looked good here. Of course going in you knew White would win because he had zero wins, but the match was fine. White plays a prick heel so well.
WINNER: Jay White
Tetsuya Naito vs Tomohiro Ishii
Like there would be anything other than a great match from these two. Naito tried to piss off Ishii early on and that he did. There was 30 seconds in the corner of Ishii just delivering chops and forearms to Naito. Ishii hit a great superplex off the top where it even looked like he jumped before he went backwards. I still don’t get the idea behind Naito’s short Destino, other than to maybe give his opponent something to kick out of. Both men in typical fashion landed on their necks a couple times. And some of Ishii’s headbutts are a little scary to watch too. But these two cracked my Top 5 matches so far, with Naito picking up the win.
WINNER: Tetsuya Naito
