Kevin Owens Goes There
We start with Randy Orton in a dark hallway. He says no one will get in his way of taking down Jinder Mahal and winning the WWE Title. Why the fuck is Orton just chilling in a dark hallway? Nakamura says he respects the legend of Randy Orton but is still chasing his goal of becoming WWE Champion. And tonight his pain will be felt everywhere.
Kevin Owens interrupts James Ellsworth and Carmella. He says he will be the referee of the upcoming Carmella/Natalya match. Shane McMahon comes out and says this isn’t happening. All KO wants to do is uphold the law and order of the WWE! Shane loses his place then says KO needs to stop blaming him for his losses. KO says he never wanted to be on Smackdown Live and if he could he would still be on RAW. KO asks if Shane didn’t get enough attention from his daddy when he was a kid. KO is probably right. KO brings up Shane’s kids and Shane tells him to never do it again.
-Yeah, I’m not a big Fourth of July guy so you get my live report tonight!
-John Cena returns. He said people are spreading false rumors about his future and people are calling him a part-timing mascot.
-Cena said he is a full timer. And he is a free agent because if his time in the WWE is limited, he is going down in a blaze of glory.
Carmella/James Ellsowrth Opening Segment
-Carmella mocked everyone for saying she needed Ellsworth to win the match for her. She said she doesn’t care. Carmella said ever since she was underestimated by being the last pick of the Draft she doesn’t care anymore.
-Carmella said that while everyone was worried about making history, she was concerned about her future.
-Carmella brought up other MITB’s when people helped others win. She then called everyone Internet Trolls for going on Twitter and complaining to Daniel Bryan.
-This is a great promo from Carmella. She doesn’t give a damn about what you people think and she is Ms. Money in the Bank.
The HYPE Bros vs The Colons
-Hey, I was actually able to watch the show somewhat on time today. Mojo gets HYPED and stops Epico from tagging in. He then tags in Ryder who takes out both Colons with a dropkick on the outside.
-Before stupid advertisements for your own Network, Primo drop kicked Ryder’s surgically repaired knee.
-The Colons work over Ryder’s leg until he tags in Mojo. Broski Boot then the Hype Ryder for the win.
WINNERS: The Hype Bros
Money in the Bank is this Sunday. And for the first time ever this show is brand exclusive, which still seems a little weird to me. It is also only a five match show. I expect a match with the Fashion Police to be added to the preshow. Or you know, maybe under utilized talent like Luke Harper, Tye Dillinger or American Alpha can get a match?
We meant to preview the show on the podcast this past week, but things come up in life that are beyond our control. So instead you just get Justin C here to preview the show!
New Day and The Fashion Police vs The Usos and The Colons
-New Day comes out with a jazz band from New Orleans. They are interrupted by The Usos and then the Fashion Police. Breeze says the Usos Day One is actually G, for Gross. Then The Colons come out and say something and we go to commercial before the match starts.
-Meanwhile American Alpha is in the back wondering why the fuck they aren’t out here right now.
So you probably noticed I didn’t have a Smackdown Live write up last night. That’s because I was there! I took the 90 minute ride from Buffalo to Rochester to attend the show.
I pretty much went because I wanted to see Shinsuke Nakamura in person. I’ve also never seen AJ Styles wrestle so I knew I had a high chance of seeing that happen as well.
-The show starts with all five women in tonight’s elimination match giving promos similar to the old episodes of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Kevin Owens Highlight Reel
-KO says that Chris Jericho may have invented the Money in the Bank match, but he has never won one. And KO will do that at the Money in the Bank PPV and become the face of the WWE.
-KO invites Nakamura out. Nakamura tries to do his entrance in the ring but is confused by the TV being in his way.
-Jinder Mahal arrived with a police escort. Damn, I was hoping those sirens were Scott Steiner returning.
Money in the Bank Opening Segment
-Shane announces that Randy Orton will have his rematch against Jinder Mahal at Money in the Bank.
-Shane announces the Money in the Bank participants: AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn. Kevin Owens comes out but Shane says he isn’t in the match. Shane introduces the fifth participant, Nakamura.
-So three guys that lost their matches Sunday are in the match, but KO isn’t?
Aiden English vs Tye Dillinger
-English sings his way to the ring and trashes Chicago. Dillinger interrupts his encore.
-English gets control by pulling Dillinger’s arm into the ropes.
-Dillinger connects on an atomic drop and gets a comeback going.
